Chancay Port's 1st Anniversary: A Solid Performance Delivered!
2025-11-21

On November 14, 2025, Peru Chancay Port marked the important milestone of its first anniversary of opening! Thanks to the meticulous construction and efficient operation by all parties involved, Chancay Port has successfully achieved the crucial leap from trial operation to full commercial operation, emerging as a landmark achievement of the Belt and Road Initiative taking root in Latin America.

Now, let us look back on the port's growth journey over the past year, and explore the remarkable transformation of this trans-Pacific trade hub, unlocking the secrets behind its evolution from a blueprint to an industry benchmark!

Chancay Port is located approximately 80 kilometers north of Lima, and serves as a key project of the Belt and Road Initiative jointly developed by China and Peru. As a multi-functional terminal, it is capable of supporting integrated operations such as container handling, bulk cargo transportation, and roll-on/roll-off services simultaneously.

To this end, NIZE Technology has tailored an integrated comprehensive solution by consolidating a system cluster composed primarily of the Intelligent Terminal Optimized Solution (I-TOS), the Bulk and General Cargo Terminal Operation System (B-TOS), and the integrated service platform.

In June 2024, the first batch of on-site project team from NIZE Technology arrived in Lima and kicked off the intensive work of system deployment and launch. As pioneers, the team was confronted with a tough battle fraught with multiple challenges: the 13-hour time difference turned communication into a day-and-night reversal; health and safety risks in a foreign country lingered constantly.

The biggest challenge lay in changing the deep-rooted traditional terminal operation concepts of local colleagues. Objectively, there was a gap between Peru's level of port automation and that of China, which had also led to the long-term reliance on manual operations in its port workflows. Take the submission of customs declarations as an example: local staff used to manually input and send the declarations. In contrast, the system built by the NIZE Technology enabled full-process automated handling of customs declarations by automatically collecting data from various operation nodes, intelligently integrating declaration interfaces, and automatically triggering submission at key nodes.

On November 14, 2025, Chancay Port marked the first anniversary of its official opening. It has handled a cumulative container throughput of over 270,000 TEUs and approximately 1.3668 million tons of bulk and general cargo. The efficiency-driven acceleration in timeliness is now benefiting markets on both ends: it takes only 31 days for Peruvian blueberries and avocados to reach dining tables in Shanghai directly from their production areas, 13 days shorter than before; domestic new energy vehicles can be transported from factories in Shanghai to 4S stores in Lima, in merely 30 days, with the shipping cycle cut by 7 days.

NIZE Technology has been deeply engaged in the technology export track and established in-depth cooperative relations with a number of key ports along the Belt and Road, including Peru's Chancay Port, Israel's Haifa Port, and Malaysia's Bintulu Port, thus building an international smart port service network.

In the future, the company will continue to focus on core technological innovation and product iteration and upgrading, promote the implementation of China's smart port solutions in overseas markets, and earnestly fulfill its responsibility of empowering the upgrading of global ports and promoting the high-quality development of transoceanic trade under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.
